Congressional Candidates

Andy Harris

1st District

The son of immigrants who fled communist Eastern Europe immediately after World War II, Dr. Andy Harris has made a lifetime commitment to serving his neighbors, country, and community. Whether it was as a physician at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital (or currently at Memorial Hospital of Easton), as a veteran of the Naval Reserve, as a hard-working state Senator, or now as Congressman, Andy has always been committed to serving others. He is dedicated to making sure every constituent in the 1st Congressional District receives the highest quality assistance and is well represented in the halls of Congress.

Johnny Ray Salling

2nd District

Johnny Salling is a lifelong resident of Baltimore County. Growing up in a working-class home, he quickly learned the value of honesty and hard work. After graduating from Sparrows Point High School in Dundalk, Johnny joined the United States Army and served as a Combat Engineer. That commitment to service to our country is shared by Johnny’s family as well, as two of his children are actively serving in the U.S. Army.

After serving in the military, Johnny worked at the Bethlehem Steel Mill for 30 years at the Sparrows Point location. During his time there, Johnny was an active member of the United Steelworkers of American Union until the plant was closed down by the last operator, RG Steel.

In 2014, Johnny was elected to the Maryland State Senate for the 6th District representing the citizens of Dundalk, Essex, and Rosedale in Annapolis. As a member of the Senate, Johnny has served on the Education, Health and Environmental Affairs Committee. He has also served on the Joint Committee on Fair Practices and State Personnel Oversight. He’s a member of the Waterman’s Caucus and the Maryland Military Installation.

Charles Anthony

3rd District

Charles Anthony was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1953 and lived there until 1965 when his family moved to the Huntington, West Virginia area. He attended Marshall University and received his teaching degree in Social Studies and History in 1975 and received his Commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. That was the beginning of his Health Care Administration career, and since then, he has not looked back. He retired from the Army Reserves in 1998 as a Lieutenant Colonel and retired as a Federal Employee from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 2009 as an Assistant Administrator for the Department of Surgery. He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and his graduate work was in Healthcare Administration.

George McDermott

4th District

George McDermott is the Republican nominee for the 4th congressional district. He won the primary that took place on June 2nd, 2020.

Chris Palombi

5th District

Chris has lived in Calvert County since the age of three. He attended Calvert County Public Schools, graduating from Patuxent High School in 2002. He pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.

After spending nearly five years with U.S. Capitol Police, he left to pursue a career in web development full-time. He was offered a position as a Senior Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. During his time at Booz Allen, he focused on designing and programming functional, efficient, websites for the Navy and Marines. Nearly two years later, St. Mary’s Ryken reached out to Chris offering a full-time position as Webmaster.

Chris is currently Webmaster, Director of Hockey Operations, and Girls Varsity Ice Hockey Coach at St. Mary’s Ryken High School. He is currently a member of the school administration and has previously taught AP Computer Science, hosted student interns, and sponsored student clubs at St. Mary’s Ryken.

Chris currently lives in Calvert County with his wife, three young children, two dogs, cat, and flock of chickens.

Neil Parrott

6th District

Neil is a lifelong Maryland resident who believes in the founding principles of our country: Lower Taxes, Limited Government, and Individual Responsibility. He lives in Hagerstown with his wife of 14 years, April, and their 3 children, Patience, Charity, and Neilson.

Neil graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park with a BS in Civil Engineering, then went to work for the Maryland State Highway Administration as a Traffic Engineer. He obtained his Masters in Business Administration from Mount St. Mary’s University, earning a 4.0 and being selected as the student graduation speaker.

After 12 years, Neil left state employment to become the Deputy Director of Public Works for Engineering at the City of Frederick. With valuable state and municipal experience under his belt, Neil took on the challenge of starting his own small traffic engineering business, Traffic Solutions, Inc. (TRSI) in Washington County. The business employs full and part-time employees and has helped improve roadways in the tri-state region.

In 2010, Neil was elected to the General Assembly as a Delegate representing the Southern portion of Washington County. He serves on the Judiciary Committee, working for you, your family, and common sense.

Neil firmly believes that by lowering taxes and decreasing unnecessary bureaucracy in government, businesses can thrive and jobs will be created.   Neil signed the taxpayer protection pledge and have voted against every tax increase proposed by O’Malley/Brown Administration.

Kim Klacik

7th District

Kimberly Klacik is a wife, mother, nonprofit founder and currently elected to the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee.

Mrs. Klacik grew up in Accokeek, Maryland, once known as the home of the Beretta Gun Manufacturer.

In 2010, she moved to Baltimore once becoming engaged to her husband. In 2013, Kimberly founded “Potential Me” to assist under served women with workforce development.

Assisting close to 200 women become gainfully employed, thirty percent went on to obtain financial independence.

As the nonprofit grew, she employed women reentering society and quickly found out what it took to manage payroll and helping families thrive with opportunities she helps create.

Gregory Coll

8th District

Gregory Coll was born and raised in Lambertville, NJ. After high school, he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he studied aerospace engineering and pursued working in the space industry. At Embry-Riddle he was the president of the rocket club, historian of Sigma Gamma Tau, the national honor society of aerospace engineering, and an active pilot.  After his early graduation in December 2003 with a bachelor of science degree in aerospace engineering, he set his goals on obtaining a job working on the Space Shuttle program.  He started with United Space Alliance working on the Main Propulsion System of the Space Shuttle in February of 2004, and it was a dream come true for him.  He spent his days learning about and operating the Space Shuttles, climbing around inside, fixing, and preparing the orbiters for spaceflight. He enjoyed days and nights in the control rooms preparing and then successfully launching humans to space, a team effort that he was honored to have been a part of and participate.  In his spare time he also took classes at the University of Central Florida, and was the president of the graduate student association when the university had 42,000 under graduates and 7,200 graduate students.  He had the opportunity to host university orientations as part of his role as president.  That was his first experience in a major political leadership role.

He met his wife Heather over twelve years ago at a Halloween party in Washington, DC. They were married in September 2010, live in Rockville, MD, and have three children together: Alexander, Dane, and Maya.
